Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
2009 release from the best-selling Pop/Rock outfit, their first album since 2006's For Me, It's You. Over the course of 15 years, Train has made its mark on music history with their Grammy Award-winning song 'Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)' and other chart-topping singles. Since forming in San Francisco in 1994, the multi-platinum selling band has traveled a long, s successful and sometimes arduous journey. Now, with their fifth album, Save Me San Francisco, Train has channeled their early days, revisiting the Roots Rock sound that has made the band such a tour de force and, in turn, the band is united stronger than ever before.

2 out of 5 stars Save me from this release   August 25, 2010

What in the name of former Wide World of Sports bowling commentator Chris Schenkel has happened to Train? I really liked this band when they arrived on the scene. Their sound was very original and interesting. I could even live with the "Drops of Jupiter" stage. The song was crucified on radio, but it and the rest of the album were good.

Fast forward to today. It's as if Train said, "Jason Mraz made a horrid, catchy song stay on the radio for 2.5 hours each day, let's one up and record two cheesy dittys that will annoy the stew out music fans" The result is this thing. The two radio releases are so ridiculously bland lyrically it's as if Matchbox 20 was a paid consultant on this project. I've fronted Asschowder for years now and we've stayed ahead of the train, not lagged behind it. If someone puts out something groundbreaking, it's most likely already been done by us. While I'm writing anthems about Bill Cosby's relationship with the Jello Corporation, Train is writing a pile of velveeta to a catchy summer beat.

I think this group really needs to talk to Burns before their next project. He revolutionized the keyboard like Nelson revolutionized blond twin brother singing duos. He just needs to sit down and smack them with reality. You can sell millions of albums and question your originality or you can write keyboard anthems about manhole covers and be true to yourself.

Which will it be Train? Right now, average has opened up a 35 point lead on you.

4 out of 5 stars Good but not Great   August 24, 2010

The first 3 songs are really good. Then the flow of the album dies after that. Many of the songs start sounding the same, at least in tempo. I'm looking forward to the day when Train puts out a greatest hits, it will be their first FULL great albumn. They seem to nail 1 or 2 songs on every release.

4 out of 5 stars "I Got You"   August 22, 2010

This is a great new album release, deserving being in the charts since its release in December 2009, titled "Save Me, San Francisco" by the underrated great rock band, Train! The album is solid in compositions, production & vocals by Pat Monahan are stunning! The tracks :
1."Save Me, San Francisco" - great opening song & title track (rated 5 stars).
2."Hey, Soul Sister" - solid track with a wonderful Spanish guitar sound (rated 5 stars).
3."I Got You" - excellent song, my favourite track from this CD, hence the title of my review (rated 5 stars).
4."Parachute" - solid track released as single & video (rated 5 stars).
5."This Ain't Goodbye" - great grand piano predominant laid back song (rated 4 stars).
6."If It's Love" - solid track (rated 5 stars).
7."If You Already Know" - good song (rated 3 stars).
8."Words" - good song (rated 3 stars).
9."Brick By Brick" - a violin infused good track (rated 3 stars).
10."Breakfast In Bed" - a weak track (rated 2 stars).
11."Marry Me",great closing track (rated 5 stars).

Overall rating is 4 stars for this wonderful CD "Save Me, San Francisco", produced by Martin Terefe.A highly recommended listening.
